Three people were killed and five others injured in a roadside bomb attack and a following fighting between U.S. patrol and insurgents in an eastern Baghdad neighborhood on Friday, a police source said. A roadside bomb detonated near a U.S. patrol in the Fdhiliyah neighborhood and was followed by a fierce fighting that erupted with insurgents in the area, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The killed and wounded civilians were apparently caught by the shooting that followed the blast, he said, adding that several nearby shops and buildings were damaged by the blast. It was not known whether the U.S. patrol sustained any casualty as the troops sealed off the area, the source said. Violence continued in Baghdad though the U.S. and Iraqi security have staged a security plan in the capital since February 14 with an aim of putting rampant violence under control.
