Gunmen stormed a security checkpoint in Salahudin province north of Baghdad late on Thursday, killing all the six security members in the checkpoint, provincial police source said on Friday.

Armed men in a car attacked the joint Iraqi police and army checkpoint near the town of Dour, 20 km south of the northern city of Tikrit, killing four policemen and two soldiers, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Insurgents affiliated with the al-Qaida in Iraq organization frequently attack local security forces in the province, accusing them of collaborating with the U.S. occupation and the country's Shiite dominated government.
