An American soldier was killed in an attack in the Iraqi capital, the U.S. military said on Friday.
A military brief statement said that the attack took place in eastern Baghdad, but did not say when or how the soldier was killed.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to about 3,610 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
