Two people were killed in an explosion in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region Thursday, private DAWN NEWS TV channel reported. The blast occurred outside the political agent office in Miranshah, a major town of North Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.
There has been no official confirmation whether it is a suicide attack or ordinary bombing attack yet. In another development, a suicide bomber driving a mini car exploded in Swat of Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province, killing three policemen, according to DAWN NEWS.
Northwestern Pakistan has seen several bombing attacks on security personnel or government officials in the past week, resulting in over 20 deaths. Some incidents were considered to be linked with tribal radicals' reaction to the government operation against hard-line Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, in the capital city Islamabad.
