A total of six soldiers were confirmed dead and other four injured in a suicide bomb attack on an army convoy in Pakistan's tribal area on Wednesday, a private Pakistani news agency News Networks (NNI) reported.

The attack took place in Northwestern Pakistani North Waziristan tribal region at 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., NNI quoted an army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad as saying.

A suicide bomber launched the attack at the army convoy, going from Mir Ali in North Waziristan to Bannu, a major city near the tribal region.

The injured have been shifted to a military hospital in Bannu.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

There is no sign that the attack is linked to the clashes between Lal Masjid religious students and security forces in the capital on Tuesday.

The army has been conducting investigation on the incident.
