One policeman died and 8 others were injured on Wednesday morning when a rocket was fired on a police station in Mata town in Swat, Northwest Frontier province of Pakistan, according to local media reports.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Media reports said the attack was linked to the clash between Lal Masjid religious students and security forces in capital Islamabad on Tuesday. A total of nine people were killed and 41 others injured in the incident.

Some 8,000 people, organized by banned group Tehrik Nefaz Shariat nuhamadi, rallied in support of Lal Masjid on Tuesday in Swat.
