Fujian, Macao to expand cooperation

Chui Sai On, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Sun Chunlan, party chief of Fujian Province, agreed Friday to expand cooperation in trade, tourism and logistics.

Chui and Sun met on the sidelines of the ongoing 6th Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Cooperation and Development Forum & Trade Fair held in Fuzhou, capital of east China's Fujian Province.

They also expressed their intention to cooperate in the development of the Pingtan comprehensive experiment zone and the Wuyi new area in Fujian.

Fujian Province has close geological and economic ties with Macao SAR, according to Sun. Some 100,000 Fujianese live and work in Macao, while Macao has invested 1 billion U.S. dollars in Fujian in recent years.

Chui and his delegation are expected to sign several cooperation agreements in upcoming sessions of the 6th PPRD Forum and Fair, which lasts from Aug. 27 to 29.
