Having organized Chinese mainland's household appliance enterprises and commercial enterprises to carry out investigation and purchasing visits to Taiwan, the Association of Economy and Trade Across Taiwan Straits (AETATS) has formed a third "cross-Strait economic and trade promotion inspection delegation", which is scheduled to visit Taiwan on August 19.
The delegation, composed of 55 Chinese mainland enterprises, will mainly inspect and purchase machinery, electronics, chemical engineering, clothing and footwear, and vehicle parts required for the business opportunities brought by the "Automobile going to the countryside" policy adopted in Chinese mainland. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has estimated that the gross purchase value of the delegation is likely to exceed 1.2 billion USD.
On August 20 and 24, delegation enterprise members will have one-to-one consultations with their Taiwanese counterparts in Taipei and Taichung.
Since the end of May, Chinese mainland has already sent two cross-Strait economic and trade promotion inspection delegations to Taiwan, and both have achieved significant results. The first delegation prioritized projects relating to the "household appliances going to the countryside" policy and made orders worth 2.2 billion USD. The second delegation focused on consumer goods, completed 146 million USD worth of deals on the spot and signed intentional agreements to purchase over 600 million USD worth of goods in the coming year.
