According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), production of coal and electricity has slowed down in July. Production of coal was 220 million tons in July which is 10.9% more than last July, but the growth rate is 6.4% lower than June.
By the end of July, power plants stored 19.62 million tons of coal, 2.12 million and 8.49 million tons more than June and last July.
From January to July, the output of coal is 1.475 billion tons, up 14.7% than the same period in 2007. The export of coal increased by 4.9% to 30.28 million tons; the import of coal was 24.94 million tons, down by 19.4%. The net export amounted to 5.34 million tons, compared with 2.1 million tons in last same period.
In addition, the electricity output of July increased by 8.1% compared with last July.
From January to July, the total output of China's electricity was approx 2 trillion kilowatt-hour, which is 11.9% more than the same period of last year, while the growth rate decreased by 4.6%; the thermal electricity and hydroelectricity increased by 10.3% and 19% respectively.
