Chinese shares reported only slight gains on Monday, as a major rebound stimulated by regulatory measures to stabilize the market was weakened by strong selling pressure that reflected lack of investor confidence, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed up 0.72 percent, or 23.13 points to 3116.98.
The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.75 percent to 11,094.33.
The Shanghai bourse saw 473 gainers versus 411 losers, and Shenzhen reported 336 gainers and 321 losers. Aggregate turnover reached 115.69 billion yuan (about 16.5 billion U.S. dollars), up from 78.5 billion yuan on Friday. Source:Xinhua
