Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met a Chinese delegation led by Wu Donghe, chairman of the China-Korea Friendship Association (CKFA) on Friday.

The visit of the delegation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the CKFA to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the DPRK-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance showed that the Chinese Communist Party and government paid great attention to the DPRK-China ties, Kim said.

The treaty made positive contributions to the socialist construction of the two countries and peace and stability of Asia, Kim said.

Kim extended congratulations to China on the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and wished more achievements by the Chinese people in the construction of a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way.

Wu said China-DPRK friendship has withstood tests in the changing world situation, demonstrating its strong vitality. China will implement the consensus of the leaders of the two parties and countries, strengthen friendly exchanges and deepen practical cooperation with the DPRK.

DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il visited China three times since last year and the visits marked a new development of the DPRK-China friendship, Wu said.

China wished the DPRK would make greater achievements in the construction of a prosperous country, Wu added.

The Chinese friendship delegation arrived in the DPRK on Sunday.
