He Guoqiang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived here on Tuesday evening, kicking off a four-day official visit to Poland.

He is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC.

"The primary aim of my visit is to promote political trust, deepen win-win economic cooperation, expand friendly exchanges, and strengthen the traditional friendship between China and Poland," the Chinese leader said in a written statement issued upon arrival in Poland.

He added that he was looking forward to holding candid and in-depth talks with Polish leaders on bilateral relations and other issues of common concerns.

Sino-Polish relations have witnessed steady development in recent years. Bilateral trade reached 10.14 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, registering a robust growth of 23.8 percent over year 2009.

China regards Poland as an important partner both in Central and Eastern Europe and in the European Union (EU), as Warsaw currently holds the EU rotating presidency.

He will meet with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and other leaders during his visit. The Chinese leader will also hold talks with Chinese business leaders in Poland.

The Chinese leader left Paris for Warsaw earlier on Tuesday, wrapping up a four-day visit to France.

Poland is the second leg of He's five-nation overseas trip which will also take him to Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran.

He will make a stopover in Turkey after visiting Poland.
