China supports dialogue and coordination among relevant parties in Syria in order to resolve internal differences, said a Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the comment in response to a question on Syria's situation at a news briefing.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad addressed his nation on Monday for the third time since mid March when unrest erupted throughout the country, Syria's state TV reported.

The nation has been in turmoil since anti-government demonstrations started in the southern province of Daraa.

Hong said China supports Syria to choose a development path that suits its national conditions so as to achieve long-term stability and prosperous development.

He called on international community to continue to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in Syria.
