Chen Zhili, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, or China's top legislature, met with a delegation of women from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Beijing on Thursday.

Chen, also president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), held talks with delegation head Chae Chan Hei, vice chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union (KDWU).

The China-DPRK relationship was previously established by older generations of revolutionaries in both countries. It is a policy of the two parties and the two countries to consolidate and develop China-DPRK friendship, Chen said.

Exchanges between women of both countries are an important part of China-DPRK relations, Chen said.

Chae said that she appreciated the gifts that the ACWF has been providing to the KDWU, such as offices and training equipment.

Chae also expressed her appreciation for the ACWF, as the federation has helped the DPRK's female citizens to improve their standard of living and played an active role in promoting women's causes in the DPRK.
