Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's upcoming visit to Indonesia will boost the two countries' strategic partnership and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Zhang Qiyue told reporters in a recent interview.

Premier Wen Jiabao is due in Indonesia from April 29 to 30, the second leg of his Southeast Asian trip, which also takes him to Malaysia.

During his first official visit to Indonesia, Wen will hold talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, meet with other Indonesian leaders, attend an economic forum and give a policy speech.

As the largest economy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the current rotating chair of the organization, Indonesia plays an important role in China-ASEAN relationship, ASEAN integration and regional cooperation, said Ambassador Zhang.

Indonesia has posted high economic growth in the past few years. It achieved a 6.1 percent growth last year, with per capita GDP surpassing 3,000 U.S. dollars and foreign exchange reserves exceeding 100 billion U.S. dollars.

In recent years, Indonesia has undergone a series of economic and social changes while maintaining political stability and improving its security situation, said Zhang, adding that the Indonesian people have a strong desire for stability and development.

China and Indonesia are both big developing countries in Asia. They share the same task of further developing economy and improving people's livelihoods. Therefore the two countries share broad common interests in economic development, poverty reduction, energy and food security, climate change and other major issues, she said.
