Cape Verdean president meets senior Chinese legislator

Cape Verdean President Pedro Pires met with visiting senior Chinese legislator Chen Zhili on Tuesday.

Pires said during the meeting that China has always been an indispensable strategic partner of Cape Verde, and he is confident that China's National People's Congress will further boost the mutual trust and understanding through this visit.

He also hailed the substantial economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, saying the public facilities built with Chinese assistance have contributed to the socio-economic development of Cape Verde.

Chen, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, said China highly values the relationship with Cape Verde and other African countries, and will further promote their cooperation within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Forum of Economic and Commercial Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

Also on Tuesday Chen met with the leader of the National Assembly of Cape Verde on the cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries.

Chen arrived here on Monday night for a friendly visit at the invitation of the assembly.
