China's ambassador presents letter of credence to Afghan president

China's new ambassador to Afghanistan Xu Feihong on Saturday presented his letter of credence to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai at the Presidential Palace in Afghan capital Kabul.

Ambassador Xu Feihong conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's cordial regards to Afghan President Karzai.

Xu, during the meeting, said the bilateral comprehensive and cooperative partnership has significantly developed between the two countries in recent years.

Chinese government attaches great importance to its relations with Afghanistan, Ambassador Xu said at the meeting, adding that China would continue to support Afghanistan's peace and reconstruction process, besides delivering assistance to Afghanistan within its capacity to help Afghanistan achieve peace, stability and development in its earliest, according to a statement issued by the Chinese embassy in Afghanistan on Saturday.

Welcoming Ambassador Xu Feihong to Afghanistan, President Karzai also conveyed his cordial greeting and wishes to President Hu Jintao.

President Karzai said, Afghanistan and China have been keeping momentum of a developing healthy relationship with frequent communication and personnel exchanges between the two countries, while the two governments respect each other in political sector, and are devoted to win-win cooperation in economic sector, according to the Chinese embassy's statement.

China is Afghanistan's good neighbor, good friend and good partner, and Afghanistan welcomes China's positive involvement in Afghanistan's peace and reconstruction process, and also welcomes China to play a more important role in regional peace and stability, Karzai said.
