China and the Unite States should enhance communication and cooperation to ensure the success of the third round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED), Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said Thursday.
Wang made the remarks when meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on the sidelines of a seminar on the international monetary system.
Chinese President Hu Jintao's U.S. visit in January opened up a new chapter for Sino-U.S. partnership of cooperation, and the two sides should fully implement the results from the visit, Wang said.
During Hu's visit, the two sides declared in a joint communique their commitment to building a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Geithner said the United States is ready to work with China to push forward preparatory work of the third round of S&ED, which is to be held in May, and contribute to a robust, sustainable and balanced growth of world economy.
The two officials also exchanged views on issues including world economy and the upcoming G20 summit.
