China urged peaceful solutions from all sides in Libya, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu in Beijing Tuesday.

China believes it is imperative to faithfully implement the UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1970, said Jiang at a regular press briefing.

On whether the UNSC would take any steps or what kind of action it would unveil, she said that would depend on whether these actions are helpful in quickly restoring stability and in stopping hostilities in Libya.

She noted a special envoy sent by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is already in Libya while the African Union is planning to dispatch a high-level committee to Libya for the crisis.
