Chinese premier sends sympathy message to Australian PM over floods

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao sent a message to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Friday, expressing sympathy on behalf of the Chinese government and people for victims of severe floods in Australia.

The official death toll from Australia's Queensland flood disaster reached 15 on Thursday, with 61 still missing, the Queensland state government has confirmed.

According to Queensland state police, almost 15,000 homes and businesses have been flooded in the city of Brisbane.
