A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met here Monday with a delegation from the Party of Regions of Ukraine, both vowing to enhance inter-party communication and cooperation.
China-Ukraine relations have developed smoothly since the two nations forged diplomatic relations in 1992, said Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
During Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to China in September, the two countries signed a joint statement to upgrade friendly cooperative relations in a comprehensive way.
The joint statement marks a new phase for the bilateral relations, said Wang, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body.
The CPC attaches great importance to relations with the Party of Regions and will continue to deepen inter-party exchanges and cooperation, he added.
Leonid Kozhara, head of the Ukrainian delegation, said the Party of Regions hoped to establish and develop exchanges with the CPC, so to advance Ukraine-China relations.
