The following are some quotable quotes from Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during his stay in Italy on Thursday:

China expects to conduct high-level exchanges with Italy and at all levels, promote political mutual trust and expand cooperation, Wen said during his talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

China and Italy could work to build for China a set of complete mechanisms of environmental risk assessment and emergency response and set up an environment technology promotion center.

The two nations should advance their cooperation in technological innovations based on mutual benefit.

Italy is among the earliest West European countries that established diplomatic relations with China, and the history of friendly communications between the two countries could be even longer, Wen said when meeting Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Italy and China and also is the Chinese Cultural Year in Italy.

Bilateral ties between China and Italy have now entered a relatively good phase, Wen said in talks with Italian Chamber of Deputies President Gianfranco Fini and Senate President Renato Schifani.

Contributing to the positive development is the fact that the two sides respect each other's major concerns, have launched beneficial cooperation in a flexible and pragmatic way on the strength of their mutually complementary economies, and have enjoyed strong public support.
