Wang Zhaoguo, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said here Thursday that China was ready to work with Mauritius to push forward bilateral ties.
Wang, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks when meeting with Mauritian President Anerood Jugnauth.
He said China was willing to make concerted efforts with Mauritius to deepen political mutual trust and cement economic and trade cooperation.
The China-Mauritius ties had set a good example for big and small countries to develop relationship in the spirit of equality and friendly cooperation, he said.
The two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1972.
Jugnauth, who was in China to attend a ceremony celebrating the National Pavilion Day of Mauritius at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, pledged to uplift the bilateral relationship to a new high, with stepping up efforts to further the people-to-people relations.
He also expressed appreciation of China's support for Mauritius' development.
