Both Chinese and Russian officials have lauded the recently concluded visit of one of the largest groups of Russian teenagers to a summer camp in China.

More than 60 officials, students and journalists attended a press conference here Thursday titled "Chinese impression" that summarized the outcome of the summer camp from July 31 to Aug. 9, which took a Russian delegation of 496 people to Beijing, Qingdao and Dalian.

Li Huilai, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, said the summer camp, initiated under a major consensus reached between the leadership of both countries, reflected the leaders' deep care for their countries' youngsters

The summer camp attached great importance to young people's mutual interactions, Li said.

He said the increasingly colorful friendly interactions between Chinese and Russian teenagers would further promote the traditional friendship between the two countries, enhance mutual trust and understanding of the two peoples, and consolidate the social basis of the Sino-Russian Strategic Partnership of Cooperation.

Yuri Senturin, Russian Deputy Minister of Education and Science, thanked the Chinese authorities for their hearty reception and considerate planning of the summer camp.

The Russian leaders, government and all participants of the summer camp were highly satisfied as all activities were a success, he said.

Thanks to care and promotion from the two countries' leaders, Senturin said, teenage communications between Russia and China, which are increasingly frequent, have further reinforced friendship and trust between the two peoples.

At the press conference, videos and pictures of the summer camp were displayed, while participating students outlined their activities and pledged to learn more proactively about China and the Chinese culture.

Nearly 500 Russian teenagers attended the summer camp as guests of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The camp reciprocates Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's hosting of 1,500 Chinese students in Russia for rehabilitation after the 8-magnitude earthquake that rocked southwest China in May 2008.
