China, Mongolia should explore new fields in military co-op: Chinese general

China-Mongolia military cooperation should keep on exploring new fields and patterns, Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) said on Friday.
Ma made the remarks while meeting Secretary of State of Mongolia's Defense Ministry Bor Baatar at the 5th China-Mongolia Defense Consultation on Friday.
Both sides exchanged views on such issues of mutual concern as regional security and bilateral defense cooperation.
"At present, the Chinese and Mongolian military have conducted quite fruitful cooperation like high-level exchange, military aid training, frontier defense exchange and joint training, which have made positive contributions to advancing the mutual trust between the two militaries," said Ma.
He called for both sides to push their friendly military cooperation to a higher level so as to promote the development of the good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust between China and Mongolia.
Bor Baatar said the Mongolian side was very pleased to see the substantial development in the relationship between the militaries of the two countries.
He also said Mongolia would like to develop a stable, good-neighborly relations over the long term on the basis of mutual benefit and equality, adding that he expected the Mongolian and Chinese military forces could strengthen their cooperation in all sectors.
