Senior PLA officer meets Russia deputy minister of defense

Liao Xilong, director of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, met with visiting Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Vera Chistova in Beijing Monday.

Liao said expanding the military cooperation between China and Russia, an important part of bilateral relations, is conducive to the comprehensive development of China-Russia relations.

He also hailed the development of China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, saying it made important contribution to the peace in the region and the world as a whole.

Chistova echoed Liao, saying the communication and exchanges between armed forces of the two countries will help their military building.

After the meeting, Ding Jiye, deputy director of the logistics department, held talks with Chistova on military logistics support. Ding briefed the guests on PLA's financial system, responsibilities, soldiers' salary and insurance.
