Senior Chinese political advisor Wang Gang met here Tuesday with a delegation from the Jamiat-ul-Ulama-I-Islam (JUI) of Pakistan.

The delegation was led by Chairman of the JUI Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

The China visit by JUI marked the establishment of party-to-party relations between the JUI and the Communist Party of China (CPC), which was an important event for China-Pakistan relations, said Wang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The visit would also boost understanding and mutual trust between the two nations, Wang added.

The CPC would strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with the JUI on the basis of the principles guiding the CPC's relations with other political parties, and promote the development of the China-Pakistan strategic partnership of cooperation, Wang said.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also spoke highly of the development of China-Pakistan relations.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two countries, as good neighbors, friends, brothers and partners, had developed a relationship of mutual respect, trust, support and assistance, Wang said.

The two countries had built an all-weather friendship and shared all-round cooperation, he added.
