The notable area of assistance from China has been in the area of infrastructure development where the Chinese government has assisted the continent to upgrade its wanting road networks, the airports and sports facilities such as sports stadia, an African stock market analyst told Xinhua on Monday.

The Chinese government has also helped to stabilize or improve prices of Africa's mineral resources. Also of note is that the Chinese aid comes with minimal conditionalities unlike the Western aid, said Ben Nyamweya in an interview with Xinhua.

Without necessarily slackening on its assistance to the continent, the Chinese government may need to utilize its obvious influence on African regimes to do more on the area of governance and respect for the rule of law, the analyst suggested. Whatever its diplomatic efforts in this area is unknown to the continent's citizenry. It is also not certain whether the Chinese government is helping the African continent to develop its own internal capacity to exploit its natural resources, as nothing of note in this respect has been documented or proclaimed by any benefiting country, according to Nyamweya.
