Nearly 10,000 journalists to cover Shanghai World Expo

Since the media registration for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China started December 18, 2009, nearly 10,000 domestic and foreign journalists had registered to report the Expo as of February 20, 2010, including over 8,000 domestic journalists, the News and Publicity Department of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee said February 24.

The 10,000-plus journalists are from the U.S., U.K., Japan, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and they have all forwarded registration applications. The journalists include those working for AP, AFP, CNN, NPR, EPA, The Times, Das Erste, NHK, Asahi Shimbun, Hong Kong-based TVB and Taiwan-based ETTV.

In addition, the construction of the News Center at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and the International Broadcasting Center, both of which are within the Expo Center, is under way as scheduled. The 2 major centers will put into service in April.
