Mexican president congratulates China on Lunar New Year

Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Sunday sent congratulatory messages to the leaders of China on the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year.

In his messages to President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, Calderon wished the Chinese people prosperity and fortune in the Year of the Tiger.

He said he hopes Mexico and China will continue their close cooperation and further strengthen the friendly ties in the new year.

The Chinese Lunar New Year, or the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday for family reunions in China. It falls on Feb. 14 this year.
