Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting United States President Barack Obama are opening talks in Beijing by consenting that strong dialogue between the two giant countries benefit not just the two but the world at large.

Presidents Hu Jintao and Obama on Tuesday sat down at the Great Hall of the People, central Beijing, for what the U.S. leader has called a "meeting of the minds."

The topics for the meeting were expected to be the globe's biggest issues, including trade and investment, global climate change, economic recession, nuclear non-proliferation and more.

Hu welcomed Obama to the second of three meetings and said he appreciated the United States' posture coming into the meetings. Hu said he looked forward to having an "in-depth relationship" with Obama.
