Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong met in Beijing Thursday with David Greenaway, vice-chancellor of the University of Nottingham, when they exchanged views on educational cooperation between the two countries.
Making education a strategic priority, the Chinese government is making efforts to advance reform and development of education, with the focus on educational equity and quality, she said.
"China will enhance international cooperation in fields which foster high-level talent and high-level science research, and endeavor to construct world-class universities," said Liu.
China hopes the University of Nottingham could make a contribution to the cooperation, on the basis of past successful experience, Liu said.
China and Britain inaugurated the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China in 2006. Located in East China's Zhejiang Province, the University of Nottingham Ningbo is run by the University of Nottingham with cooperation from Zhejiang Wanli Education Group-University.
