The South Korean navy said Tuesday that it will send a helicopter carrier and a warship to China to join the International Fleet Review in next week.

For the annual exhibition, about 40 vessels from 20 nations, including the United States and India, will gather in Qingdao, China from April 20 to 23.

The vessels to be dispatched by South Korea are the LP-X Dokdo amphibious vessel and the KDX-II Gang Gam Chan destroyer, the Navy said in a statement.

The event will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese navy, the South Korean Navy added.

Last year's fleet review was held in Busan, South Korea.
