China on Thursday condemned a suicide bombing near a mosque in Sri Lanka.

"We extend our deep condolences to the victims and the injured," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu at a regular press conference.

A suicide bomber attacked the Jumma mosque at Godapitiya, in Akurassa, in the Matara district, about 160 km south of the capital Colombo on Tuesday morning.
