Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza on Friday met He Yong, member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, according to reports from Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
The Chinese visitor, who is also deputy-secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, forwarded warm greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao and said that China and Burundi had conducted exchanges in such realms as politics and economy and achieved a lot of positive results.
He also said that the CPC would like to further its ties with the National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Front for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD), the ruling party of Burundi.
During their meeting, President Nkurunziza spoke highly of the just-concluded Beijing Olympic Games and the intra-party relations between the CNDD-FDD and CPC.
He added that the existing friendly and cooperative ties would develop further with mutual efforts.
He Yong is visiting Burundi at the invitation of the CNDD-FDD. Also on He's goodwill delegation are Li Jinjun, vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zang Shengye, secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Qiang Weidong, director of the Joint Office of Inspection Work of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.
