Wang Jiarui, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said on Wednesday that the CPC would further enhance its friendship with the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) Party of Namibia.
Wang, who is head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in a meeting with Sam Nujoma, the former chairman of SWAPO and ex-president of Namibia.
He said Nujoma, as an old friend of China, had made great contributions for the comprehensive, sound development of the Sino-Namibian relationship as well as party-to-party cooperation.
Wang also welcomed Nujoma's attendance at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and briefed him on the Olympics preparatory work.
Nujoma said he was delighted to attend the opening ceremony and believed that the Games would strengthen China's friendship with other countries.
He also hailed China's tremendous achievements since the reform and opening-up and said he believed that China would become more prosperous under the leadership of the CPC. Source: Xinhua
