Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Thursday with media representatives from ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) nations.
The representatives were here on a visit to China to attend the China-ASEAN Summit Forum on Radio and Television from April 21 to 23.
Liu, also a member of both the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said the forum made a lot of achievements with the Beijing Statement issued and a series of cooperation agreements signed.
Holding such a forum was an important measure to strengthen media cooperation between China and the ASEAN nations, Liu said.
Highlighting the strategic partnership for peace and prosperity between China and ASEAN, Liu said the exchanges and cooperation in radio and television constitute an important part in the China-ASEAN relations and a mighty force to boost bilateral ties.
Liu hoped that the two sides would further increase coordination in radio and television areas, in a bid to make more contribution to enhancing understanding and friendship between China and the ASEAN nations.
Liu applauded the ASEAN medias' objective coverage of the March 14 violence in China's Tibet, and appreciated their support to the torch relay of the Beijing Olympic Games.
