It is the responsibility of the entire world to ensure the success of the Beijing Olympic Games, a leading newspaper of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Monday.
The international community is standing up against the attempts of some Western countries to politicize the Beijing Olympic Games, which goes against the Olympic Charter and is complicating international relations, said an article carried by the official Rodong Sinmun newspaper.
Calls by some U.S. and European Union politicians for boycotting the Beijing Olympic Games failed to arouse sympathy from the international community, the article said.
Many officials of the International Olympic Committee, including its president, Jacques Rogge, are against linking the Tibet issue to the Olympics, and many countries are vigilant against attempts to politicize the games and are making their own efforts to ensure a successful Olympic Games in Beijing, it added.
The Olympic flame will arrive in Pyongyang on April 28 on its 18th leg of the global journey. DPRK officials have repeatedly said they will guarantee a safe and successful torch relay in the country.
