German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday that Germany-China ties will continue to develop in a normal and in-depth manner.

She made the remarks at a reception for foreign correspondents in Germany.

Merkel stated that Germany will firmly support and abide by the One-China policy; and she says that her country is dedicated to developing a strategic partnership with China and reinforcing cooperation in bilateral and international affairs.

She wished the Beijing Olympics much success, saying the Games will be a great opportunity for China, as many people will be able to get to know and understand China through the event.

Merkel said she will go to Beijing this autumn for the China-Europe summit.
