Sikder is perhaps the most famous name among Chinese living in Bangladesh. As the general secretary of Bangladesh-China Peoples Friendship Association (BCPFA), Sikder said he has tried his best to develop friendship between the peoples of China and Bangladesh since he was a student in Dhaka University 40 years ago.

Sikder has become general secretary since 1986 when BCPFA was founded. In an interview with Xinhua, Sikder said his association has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with 10 agencies of China, including Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and All China Women Federation.

The contents of the MoUs are strengthening exchange of views and visits, and improving the friendship between the two peoples, he said.

Under the theme, BCPFA has sent more than 50 delegations to China and received around 20 delegations from China. The association at the moment is recognized as the most active organization friendly to China in Bangladesh.

More than that, BCPFA invited an acrobatic team from China to make a 10-day performance in Bangladesh, which was awarded warm welcome from the Bangladeshi audience. It also started in 2007 a course for Chinese people to learn Bengali. The course has attracted many Chinese to attend.

Sikder said he has visited China more than 10 times since 1978."China has changed a lot since the first time I visited. China is a great nation, Chinese people are great people," he said.

BCPFA has 160 life members and 800 general members, including retired diplomats, journalists, entrepreneurs, lawyers, bankers, former ministers and MPs. Sikder said almost all the former Bangladeshi Ambassadors to China are members of BCPFA.

While being asked about his plan in the future, Sikder said he has planned to establish a Bangladesh-China Friendship Fund, whose main function is to do some research work on bilateral relations. He has also planned to set up a Bangladesh-China Friendship School and Bangladesh-China Friendship Hospital.

At the age of 65, Sikder said he will continue to work for the cause of friendship between the two peoples until the end of his life.
