Thailand's Foreign Ministry on Friday expressed the Thai government's concern over the blizzard that is affecting many parts of China and extended its moral support to the Chinese government and people for their fight with the disaster.

When meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jiuhuan in Bangkok, Thailand's Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Virasakdi Futrakul expressed Thai government and people's great sympathy with the Chinese people in the eastern, central and southern parts of China affected by the most serious blizzards, particularly in Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan and Hubei provinces.

Virasakdi told Zhang that the Thai government learned that more than 70 million people in China who worked or resided outside their hometown had been prevented from getting home in time to unite with their family as a tradition on the upcoming Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 7, as the blizzards have caused great traffic obstacles.

Virasakdi extended his deep condolence from the Thai government towards the Chinese victims' families.

The Thai government would also like to lend its moral support for the Chinese government and people in their battle with the disaster, and wish its impacts be eased continuously and the situation return to normal as early as possible.
