Chinese State Councilor Hua Jianmin said in Shenzhen Friday that China welcomes more foreign experts to participate in its modernization and construction, and the country will create better conditions for their work and life in China.

Hua made the remarks to the 2007 Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), which opened here Friday.

He said China had a tradition of respecting talent and the government would make greater efforts to promote international cooperation in professional exchanges.

He noted that the CIEP had played an active role in promoting professional exchanges between China and foreign countries and supporting China's cause of building a moderately prosperous society.

Before the opening ceremony, Hua met with some of the foreign experts at the conference and expressed his appreciation of their contribution to China's development.

The two-day conference drew some 800 foreign experts, training and research organizations from more than 40 countries and regions and more than 50 domestic delegations. It provided some 5,000 high-tech and training projects and more than 30,000 vacancies at a job fair, according to the organizers.

The CIEP, created by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) in 2001, is the only conference for the exchange of professionals open to foreign experts and training organizations, approved by the State Council. It has served as an important channel for introducing intelligence into China.
