Yang Hyong Sop, deputy top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Thursday thanked Chinese government for providing emergency aid to flooded areas across the country.

Yang, Vice-President of the Presidium of the supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, expressed the gratitude in the meeting with a Chinese culture delegation headed by the Chinese Deputy Culture Minister Zhou Heping.

"I believe such aid will contribute much in the process of reconstruction", Yang said.

After the meeting, Zhou attended a ceremony on China's donation of 3,200 books to the DPRK national library.

The Chinese culture delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday to start a five-day visit.
