China on Tuesday welcomes the shutdown of the nuclear reactor in Yongbyon of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao, in response to a related question, said on Tuesday that China hopes all parties will make concerted efforts and earnestly carry out their commitments so as to strive for an early, comprehensive and balanced implementation of the joint document issued on February
13 this year.

The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed on Monday that the DPRK has shut down the Yongbyon nuclear reactor.
