A man committed suicide after killing his son and daughter in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Monday afternoon, police said.

The man, a native of south China's Hunan Province, beat his three-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter to death while they slept before jumping off of a three-story building in the city of Liuzhou, said a spokesman from the region's public security bureau.

The spokesman did not give any further details about the case. A police investigation is under way.
