China Telecom Beijing Limited Company announced on May 23 that it has launched the "e-Surfing Traffic Card" service for China Telecom users to pay bus and subway fares as well to purchase goods from designated merchants by swiping their mobile phones in Beijing.

This is an important attempt for China Telecom Beijing Limited Company to test the field of mobile payment services.

According to sources, the "e-Surfing Traffic Card" service provides a special radio frequency user identifier module (UIM) card, combining China Telecom's 3G mobile communications function and the function of Beijing municipal transport cards. Users only need to carry their mobile phones to pay bus and subway fares and to purchase goods from designated merchants by swiping their mobile phones. They can also enjoy services such as recharging their e-wallets at charging stations or through their mobile phone.
