China will build 56 more airports in the next five years and take various measures to solve flight delays.

Currently, there are 175 civil airports in China. In the next five years, China will continue investing in airport construction. "During this period, China will build 56 new airports, relocate 16 airports and enlarge 91 airports. Investment in China's aviation industry will reach 425 billion yuan," said Wu Hongzhou, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Wu said, presently, there are 16 airports in China, whose passenger throughputs exceed 10 million people. Among these, the airports in big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are close to capacity. In response, the Civil Aviation Administration of China will take a variety of measures, including "coordinating civil aviation and military, operating big planes, increasing air routes between capitals and small cities and alleviating airspace traffic and time constraints."
