Fire breaks out in apartment building in east China, residents trapped

A fire that broke out Monday morning has trapped at least three or four people in an apartment building in east China's Zhejiang Province, firefighters and witnesses said.

The fire started at around 11 a.m. Monday, filling the apartment's fifth-floor hallways with thick smoke, said a firefighter in the city of Ningbo, where the incident occurred.

As of noon, firefighters have rescued several residents from the fifteen-floor building but at least three or four remain trapped, according to witnesses. The condition of the trapped residents is currently unknown.
