Heavy rainfall to lash central and eastern China

Heavy rain is expected to lash most parts of central and eastern China for several days, the country's weather forecast authorities said Monday.

Heavy rain will hit the eastern part of the country's northwestern region, southern part of the northern region, areas along the Yellow, Huaihe and Yangtze rivers, Chongqing and Guizhou from Monday to Thursday, the China Meteorological Administration said.

Rainstorms, thunderstorms and hail are expected to hit areas in central and eastern China, it said.

A cold front is forecast to hit Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Monday and move eastward in the coming days to Thursday, causing temperature drops of 4 to 8 degrees Celsuis in areas to the north of Huaihe River.
