A project to restore forest resources in key forests in China's northeastern regions and Inner Mongolia has yielded positive results thanks to a series of ecological measures, which have hit the target of increasing forest cover growth and effectively restraining deforestation.

Statistics show that the net forest growth of some key state forests in northeastern China and Inner Mongolia tops 16,140 square kilometers, up by 4.1 percent, and the growth of wood storage stands at 273 million cubic meters since the first phase of natural forest protection project was launched. Key state forests in northeastern China and Inner Mongolia, the largest natural forests in China, are the major eco-shelter and strategic base for woods.
